Blogs are becoming increasingly more and more important in various respects and are widely employed by those interested in sharing information, political and social views, promote and sell products and for many other reasons. If you do not purchase and already existing and established blog, the first thing you need to do after installing your blog and its unique content is to get traffic and readers. Below we give you some techniques that may help you in achieving that goal.

1)    Write a some good articles that can help establish a good reputation for your blog and at the same time build some loyal readership. These articles should be clearly establish what your blog is about and inform the reader what to expect when he visits your blog.

2)   Try to write a new and interesting post every day if possible, keeping content fresh is important. This shows your visitors that your blog is being constantly updated and they will almost surely want to come back on a regular basis to see what new articles have been posted. Hopefully they will bookmark your site and become regular loyal visitors. It is not necessary to have a new post everyday, but in the beginning try to post as regularly as possible.

3)    Commenting on other blogs that are similar to yours can draw readers to your blog. This will also serve to spread the word around about you and your blog. It is best to post your comment were you can also make reference to your own website. Your domain name should be appropriate for whatever your blog is about and it will make it easier for readers to remember.

4)   Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger’s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry – it’s sort of like your blog telling someone else’s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.

5)    Encourage a comments and a healthy discussion on your own blog. Allowing people to participate will show interest in your blog and give you some feedback on how you are doing. Comments also work to attract more readers if they see other commenting they will be more curious to read and visit your blog. You can encourage comments by posting a question related to your post. It is also important to respond to comments to keep the conversation going and readers coming back.

6)     Submit your latest article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival often enjoy a spike in new readers.

7)   Submit your site to blog catalogues such as Blogtopsites.com, Blogcatalog.com and Technorati.com and others to get your blog noticed and attract readers.

8)   Write articles and submit them to popular article directories such as Ezinearticles.com article. This will increase you blogs awareness and draw additional readers to your blog whose curiosity had been peeked by reading your articles.

9)     Lastly, be persistent and patient. Establishing a blog and a following takes time and work. If you continue to increase your blog awareness and write fresh and interesting post you will reach your objectives.
